Job Description
JOB TITLE: School Nurse (Part Time)
REPORTS TO: v.p. OF ACADEMICS
DEPARTMENT: Student Services
EFFECTIVE DATE: jANUARY 05, 2026
POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Nurse oversees the overall health program for the students at Kingsway College, working directly with the students as needed. The School Nurse shall agree to observe the employment and administrative policies of the SDA Church in Canada K-12 Board of Education, those policies of the SDA Church K-12 Board of Education which pertain to the operation of Kingsway College, the policies adopted by the Board of Directors of this school, and those laws and regulations of the Province of Ontario which are applicable to this school.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides a role model of successful Christian living for the students.
Interacts with students and models spiritual maturity in leading students towards Christ and then spiritual growth.
Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
Provide healthcare to students and staff
Coordinate referrals to private healthcare providers
Serve as liaisons between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment
Developing plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care
Serving as consultants with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselors
Providing health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings
Monitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety
Overseeing infection control measures
Actively participating in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at school
Overseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans
Making decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by provincial laws and professional practice guidance
Providing health advice to school administration
Assisting families with locating outside care and consultation
Processing health insurance forms
Transporting students to medical appointments
Responding to emergency calls on campus
Maintaining student medical files
Provides adequate supervision of students for which he/she is responsible.
Participates in faculty/staff meetings. Also participates in major school events (i.e. fund dinner, preview weekend, alumni weekend, graduation).
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
JOB STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
A four-year Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Holds a current Ontario Nursing license.
Experience:
A minimum of five year experience working as a Registered Nurse.
Pediatric experience preferred.
Should have experience working with and building relationships with youth in a leadership position.
Skills:

Excellent communication skills.
A desire to mentor young people and a willingness to serve others.
Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
Understand the importance of confidential information concerning students and others while maintaining a high degree of integrity and support for Kingsway College.

Available for weekend and evening hours when required.
